John Paul Thurlow

The illustrator John Paul Thurlow is known for his cover illustrations. His drawings are very precise and realistic. He has received a large amount of press coverage recently due to his 'Covers Project' where he has reproduced 100 of his favourite magazine covers in intricate pencil drawings. The drawings look very photo-realistic. What is so extraordinary about his drawings is the attention to detail, they are strikingly eye-catching. Thurlow does not simply just copy the covers, he plays around with them and subverts the images, sometimes producing entirely new works. He adds symbolism or text that he reads from the forms he draws from.
